Meet the Women Behind Start Something Studio
Start Something Studio was co-founded by Lisa Koivu and Jamie Saam, two women who have built businesses from the ground up—and know exactly what it’s like to juggle family, growth, and “figuring it all out.”
Lisa Koivu brings more than 13 years of experience working online as a digital marketer, website strategist, and content creator. A former OG blogger at ShopGirlDaily.com and OhSheBlogs.com, she’s also been a freelance writer for outlets like U.S. News & World Report, About.com, and the Chicago Tribune. Lisa has consulted with nationally recognized brands including One Kings Lane and American Express, and she’s helped hundreds of small business owners develop strong brands, build beautiful websites, and show up confidently online. With a background in higher education and a Master’s in Public Administration from DePaul University, Lisa is known for delivering smart, scalable strategies (often in the carpool lane) and translating big marketing concepts into clear, doable steps.
Jamie Saam is a born-and-raised community champion based in Batavia, Illinois. She’s the co-owner of Bulldog Plumbing Inc. and has worn many hats—including alderman and Executive Director of Batavia MainStreet. Her passion for small business revitalization led her to spearhead innovative projects like the Batavia Boardwalk Shops Incubator Program, which has helped dozens of new businesses find their footing. She has also advised other communities on how to launch their own incubator programs. Jamie knows firsthand what it means to build something meaningful—and brings that same heart to every coaching session and strategy call.
Together, Lisa and Jamie created Start Something Studio to be the team for people who don’t have a team, offering expert guidance, personalized accountability, and an energizing community for small business owners who are ready to grow.
